Jon Boat Fishing Chaos! Swimbaits And Topwater Between Storms!

Tornado warnings! Severe thunder storms! Extreme winds! White Water Rapids! Its just another day of adventuring in the Tin rig! Come along as we take the jet boat up skinny river rapids in search of Spotted Bass, dodge lightning on the open water for largemouth, and catch a ton of bass on swimbaits and topwater! 

Post spawn bass fishing can be a blast! We kept it incredibly simple today with just a few baits in the boat. When you only have a few selections, its amazing how you can stick to the plan and catch fish no matter what the weather throws your way! We were able to put together an amazing swimbait bite and catch a bunch of nice topwater fish to boot!

Where Do Bass Go After They Spawn? (And How To Catch Them!)

As bass finish spawning they move out to deeper water. This move begins one of the most predictable times of the year, and fish catching becomes really easy! Despite this, there are always anglers who misunderstand the transition and struggle. We're going to show you how these fish move and how to get ahead of them so you can consistently catch fish, instead of struggling through the transition! 

Once bass back away from the shore they typically rest for a few days before beginning their transition. The pattern they follow differs a little depending on if you're in a highland reservoir, lowland reservoir, natural lake, or moving water but the concepts apply equally to all of these locations. Once the bass have recuperated they typically split. Some turn around and re-enter the shallows, while others run the pre-spawn stops in reserve on their way to outside, offshore structures. 

Depending on the type of fishery you're on, the baits can differ dramatically. The concept however, is to focus your time on faster moving, reaction baits. FINESSE vs BIG BAITS - Spring Bass Fishing!

Come along for a day on the water! Tim is slinging a swimbait while his buddy sticks to the spinning rod. Who's going to come out ahead? We'll see! Pay attention to where Tim focuses with the swimbaits and note the number of fish that commit to a dropshot or shaky head after refusing the big bait. Very interesting!

The Tennessee River is known for "power fishing" but make no mistake, there are a ton of fish to be caught with finesse techniques. Today the advantage went to the dropshot, shaky head and senko. Tim did manage one fish on the Magdraft and a few missed opportunities on other baits, but all in all the finesse gear was the champ.
