Best Hooks For Bass Fishing: Senko, Worms, Crankbaits, Topwater, Swimbait!

So many hooks, so little time! Its taken us years (and hundreds of packs of hooks) to develop this short list of the best hooks for different situations. Whether you want to wacky rig a senko, punch a creature, or throw a deep diving crankbait, we've compiled this list for you! Not only do we cover hook styles, we also cover wire sizes, strength, etc... to perfectly match your fishing conditions.

Tim starts off with reaction baits and wraps it up with soft plastics. The reason for this is most anglers lose fish on treble hook baits. Crankbaits and topwater are the primary heartbreakers in bass fishing. You think you've got that fish hooked well but when the head shakes start, you lose. Almost all of these losses can be avoided if you truly understand treble hooks. When to switch between styles, when to switch to heavier gauge wire, etc.

Today's video is a lot for you to digest as an angler. We know Tim breezed through a ton of hooks in a short time but its the only way to cover all the information. Below is a detailed breakdown of the hooks in order of appearance in the video. If you click the links (they go direct to Tackle Warehouse) you will see detailed photos and descriptions of each item. This truly is a challenging year with store shelves around the country completely empty and mixed information on future shipments. We hope this video gives you the information you need to be successful throughout the Summer and Fall.

Summer Fishing For Bass with Jigs, Creature Baits, and Plastic Worms!

Summer fishing is easy if you know where to look! Today Matt's Dad joins us as we target bass near deep water with 3 key summertime techniques. If you want to catch more bass, pay close attention to how the guys use the shaky head worm, jig, and wobble head creature bait to locate bass and dial in the pattern!

The guys haven't been on Clearlake for months but they start catching fish immediately. If you struggle to find Summer bass, we recommend you go back and revisit our "Where Do Bass Go In Summer" video (linked below). Today the guys targeted chunk rock in 5-15 feet of water but the key was finding these areas with quick access to deep water. If you could find that scenario, the fish were always present. They knew they could get bit on a shaky head and a jig but once fish started coming in the boat, the wobble head was employed to get the bigger bite.

All 3 of these are simple techniques to use and they will work on your local water. Focus on the shaky head worm to find a consistent bite. Of the 3 techniques, it is the easiest to get bit on day in and day out. If your fish are dialed in on eating crawdads switch to the jig and you'll almost always see the size of the fish increase. Once you've located fish on hard bottom, the wobble head is an incredible technique for catching those "kicker fish" you're looking for. It will cover water quickly, get big bites, and is very snag resistant.

Which Fishing Line Is Best? Braid vs Monofilament vs Fluorocarbon

Find out which fishing line you should use for different techniques! Do you know there are tricks to make your fishing even easier? Let's start simple for beginner anglers then dive in deep for advanced anglers. We're covering all the different lines and explaining the advantages of each for different techniques.

Each style of line has benefits. Monofilament is inexpensive, strong, and easy to use. Fluorocarbon has incredible abrasion resistance and is incredibly clear. Braided line provides power in an incredibly thin package. While all of these lines have amazing benefits, they also provide challenges that need to be overcome.

Understanding which line to throw for different techniques will improve your overall fishing experience. There is no perfect line for EVERY situation but there are some options that are great for MOST situations. The majority of break offs, foul ups, and backlashes are a direct result of mistakes in line selection. Below are some of our favorite lines for different techniques.

Buzzbaits and Frogs! Summer Bass Fishing On Clearlake!

After months on the road we're finally back on Clearlake! Come along as we explore the lake, build patterns, and catch fish! Matt utilizes a buzzbait, frog, and toad to catch a fish in the grass on a hot Summer day. Many anglers avoid fishing in the heat but if you know where to look there are big fish to be caught!

Catching fish consistently in Summer requires an understanding of how and why they position. Shallow water bass love to be close to cover. A consistent food source is also key. In most lakes, if you can find baitfish and grass in the same area, you're around bass. This morning Matt hit the water at first light. He already knew where to find grass but the baitfish remained a mystery. By getting out early he was able to quickly locate active birds searching for a meal.

It took time to get the first bite but the bird activity confirmed the presence of baitfish and ultimately the presence of bass. Whenever you're on the water pay close attention to nature, it's clues can really shorten your search time. Once Matt located fish he used a combination of baits to get consistent bites from bass that were positioned to ambush prey as it passed by the grass beds.

Below is a breakdown of the baits and equipment Matt used to catch his fish. We've included color recommendations for the various baits, the exact combos Matt was fishing with, and even a budget-minded alternative.
