Topwater Challenge! Can't Go Home Until Its Complete!

Topwater fishing is one of Matt's favorite ways to catch bass so when the call came in with a challenge he jumped at the chance! Catch a bass on a Popper, Spook, and Whopper Plopper before going home. Challenge accepted!

Topwater is one of the most exciting ways to bass fish. The whopper plopper in particular gets EXPLOSIVE strikes! If you haven't thrown one yet do yourself a favor and give it a try.

This video is just for fun but there is still a lot to be learned. Pay attention to the cadences of the baits, and more importantly the changes in cadences. Apply that information to your fishing the next time you're on a topwater bite and you might catch a few more fish.

How To Catch Bigger Schooling Fish

Matt explains how schooling bass move and react. How the largest bass stay deep and play off the feeding mentality of the smaller fish to eat with minimal effort. He also explains how adapting your bait selection can help you to catch the largest fish in the school.

The next time you're on a topwater bite and the bass are really blowing up well, consider changing your offering and going deeper to get the bigger bites. Often times the truly giant bass will hang below bass that are feeding on the surface in our to take advantage of their efforts and eat the scraps with minimal effort.

Behind the Scenes of River2Sea

If you've ever had an explosive bite on a Whopper Plopper or a giant bass track down an S-Waver Swimbait, you've thrown a bait that passed through these doors. Most anglers don't realize River2Sea is a local company, located in Richmond, California. A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to spend an afternoon at the River2Sea offices and thought we'd bring you along.

Angelo Alorro, the National Sales Manager, gave us a brief tour. We learned they've been around for 16 years and have developed a handful of bass fishing lures that have shaped the market and changed the way we view bass behavior. Simon Chan is the primary lure designer and his breakthroughs can be seen throughout his own products as well as across the industry.

Tim and I never realized just how many River2Sea products we use. There are those we talk about regularly but there are a bunch that we fish without ever saying a word. Below is a list of the baits we use that you should take a look at...

-Whopper Plopper
-S-Waver Swimbait (168 and 200)
-Biggie Squarebill Crankbait
-Rover Walking Topwater
-Bubble Walker (Both Sizes)
-Bully Wa 2 Frog
-Spittin Wa Frog
-Bling Spinnerbait

Come Along For A Day On The Delta

Matt heads down to the California Delta for a day of bass fishing with his good friend Matt Leverich. The two plan to throw a 6" and 7" senko in search of big largemouth. Adaptation will prove to be key on this trip as the two find fish willing to eat a buzzbait, whopper plopper, and hollow body frogs. Its hard to beat topwater blowups!

They start the morning unsure what to expect but hoping to find a few quick bites on a buzzbait and whopper plopper. From the very first cast its obvious that catching fish won't be a problem. The toughest part of the whole day is setting down the topwater in an effort to stick to the senko plan.

As the tide rises the pair see more an more success on the 6" senko and Fat Ace. After several hours and dozens of fish on a senko they decide its time to adapt and search for bigger bites. Near the top of the tide the big fish finally move shallow and begin feeding heavily on the surface. Matt quickly connects with a big bass on a frog... and for the rest, you'll have to watch the next video.
