GIANT Bass In A Lake Full Of Predators!

We're on a SMALL Lake full of BIG predators! The plan is to target bass but we've got to avoid the musky and pike to make it happen. How do you find bass in a lake like this? We're about to find out! The plan is to target bass that are moving into the shallows as the water warms up. Come along for a fun day full of GIANT Smallmouth!

We began the day by looking shallow. In clear water fisheries your best bet is often to simply look, don't even make a cast. If the water is murky, use a fast moving search bait as your eyes to determine if the fish have moved in. Once we established the fish had moved up, the hunt for the big ones began! The first bite of the day came from a musky, the second from a 5 lb smallmouth!

We spent the day targeting bass in and around cover. Even the big bass are wary to mix with the big pike and musky for fear of becoming a snack. Despite the presence of heavy cover, we focused on 5-6 lb fluorocarbon line to fool the clear water bass into biting. We used a variety of baits to target these fish, catching them on nearly everything we threw. Below is a breakdown of the baits and gear we used to make this day a success!

How Jigs and Trailers Actually Move - UNDERWATER FOOTAGE!!

We have 8 of the most popular jig trailers and we're comparing the actions underwater. If you've ever wondered how they actually move when they're underwater or why one trailer seems to work better than another, this video is for you! There is so much information for bass anglers to glean when we head underwater and simply watch how our lures respond to how we fish them. We've included "dead action" trailers, aggressively kicking baits, and curly tail grubs so we get a complete comparison.

Of course we can't include every trailer on the market but we've done our best to select the most popular offerings that represent the various styles of jig trailer most commonly used. Whether you're a finesse jig guy or you prefer a heavy flipping jig, we've got trailers that fit your style. Every time we do an underwater video we're amazed by the outcome.

When viewed below the surface a bait like a Sweet Beaver that appeared to have no action at all, proves to have an incredible craw profile with a unique left to right drift as it falls. A grub like the Yamamoto Double Tail proves that it has an undulating action at virtually any speed, and the Paca Craw (one of the original "action" chunks but overlooked by most anglers today) gets 10 stars for amazing action when swam along the bottom!

What the baits for yourself and judge the bait trailers for your fishing style. Some anglers prefer a muted action, others want an aggressive kick at all speeds. Regardless of your fishing style, there is a trailer here for you. Below is a breakdown of the trailers (in order of appearance), the jigs, as well as some jig rod recommendations for Summer fishing.

3 New Frog Fishing Tricks To Catch More FIsh!

Come along for an evening of frog fishing and learn new tricks to put more frog fish in the boat! Matt and Tim spend most of the year with a frog rod in their hands and they've learned a ton of tricks along the way. Tonight Matt is giving up 3 tips that will completely change your frog fishing. Whether you've struggled to land your fish or maybe you'd just like to get some more bites, this video was made for you!

Matt's first tip to improve you frogging is to explore your opportunities in open water. If you frog heavy cover and slop, its time to branch out and fish away from the cover. The majority of our really big frog fish come in open water.

The second tip is to make sure you're using the right rod and the right frog. While that seems simple on the surface what Matt is actually recommending is that if you're struggling to hook or land frog fish, it might be time to look at a softer rod and a smaller frog with lighter wire hooks. By dropping down in power, you'll have time to build up speed in your hookset before connecting with the fish. This is especially important for smaller or younger anglers who don't have the power to smash hookset after hookset.

The final tip is to branch out and try new frogs. Fish become conditioned to frogs just like they become conditioned to other baits. By changing profile, action, or in some cases sound, you can catch a lot more fish. Below is a breakdown of the frogs we recommend trying, as well as the gear we'd use to fish those baits.

NEW PB!! Trophy Smallmouth - Sturgeon Bay, WI

3 new PERSONAL BEST smallmouth bass on one lake!! CC and Tonya both got to catch monster Smallmouth on finesse tackle and Tim's son JD (6 years old) got in on the action with a 5.26 lber of his own!! What an amazing trip! Come along with us for some amazing fishing on world famous Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.

We planned this trip over a year ago and were actually en route when Matt got into his terrible car crash. Fast forward a year and we all regrouped and came together for Sturgeon Bay round 2! Despite the tough fishing reports leading up to our arrival, we had an amazing time on Lake Michigan. Our group caught several smallmouth over 6 lbs, more than a dozen 5 lbers, and countless 3's and 4's. Wisconsin did not disappoint! If you ever get the chance to fish Sturgeon Bay be sure and make it happen. Thanks for coming along with us on our vacation!
