2 Strolling Tricks You Need To Know For Winter Bass!

The Jig And Minnow continues to sweep through bass fishing, but you'd better be ready to adapt to cold water! This technique continues to gain popularity by the day, and for good reason! Fish react to a straight tail bait being strolled past them, very similarly to the way they used to react to a paddle tail swimbait. The bite is wide open so you'd better capitalize while you can, because if not, everyone else will!

This technique is known by many names, but regardless of what you call it, it's working. It's not new, but it's erupted on the bass fishing scene over the last 3 years. Pairing a pin tailed or fork tailed minnow to a jighead and shaking it around bass is incredibly effective in the cold Winter months! If you want to stay consistent all Winter, you'll want to focus on smaller baits in natural colors, as well as much lighter heads than we use in Summer. We're also adapting our rod selection to these lighter offerings so that we can work them more effectively.

Where Do Bass Go In Winter? (And Our Top Baits To Catch Them)

Bass are making their final move of the year, here's what you need to know! The shallow fish are vanishing and surface activity is coming to an end. Where has everything gone? The lake seems so dead but guys are still catching giant bass! Don't get left behind this year when the fish transition to their Winter haunts.

The Winter transition brings completely different bass behavior. Fish will move toward deep water areas where they have ample food sources. You'll find them on the ends of deep points, on the edges of steep slopes near narrow "pinch points", and in featureless lakes, sitting out in the "hollows". The fish use these areas because they can move up and down the water column quickly with changing weather and there is typically an abundance of baitfish.

The Cold Water Bass Fishing Trick Everyone Forgets!!

When Winter bass don't want to bite, the Jerkbait is the deal! Long pauses and short snaps of the rod can get wary fish to commit. However, this time of year attention to detail is everything. From baits to hooks, and rod to line,  you need your gear to be perfectly dialed to fully take advantage of a jerk bait's potential. 

Matt started out fishing a variety of Winter time baits. He threw crankbaits, blade baits, alabama rigs, and swimbaits.
