Lipless Cranks are awesome! These crankbaits catch great numbers of fish and they catch giant bass too! They can be hopped, ripped, or steady retrieved in open water, around cover, or right on the bottom. With so many variables, where do you even start?! We're here to help... 

The lipless is one of our favorite bass fishing techniques. It shines in the Spring and Fall but can catch fish any time of year. Our two main methods are hopping the baits on bottom and steady retrieving them in the middle of the water column. The two methods utilize completely different baits and today we're explaining why.

Forgotten Crankbaits For Fall Bass

When every one else is throwing squarebill crankbaits and ultra deep divers you can catch a ton of fish on mid-sized cranks. They work in a variety of conditions that other cranks don't and virtually no one throws them. Give them a try this Fall and you might be surprised how many bass you can catch!

What is a mid-sized crankbait? Most have a short, rounded bill and wider body. The baits are typically designed to reach depths of 7-12 feet and come equipped with size 6 trebles. They "match the hatch" with a variety of baitfish nationwide and are bit much more readily than larger deep diving crankbaits.

Lipless Crankbaits Tips For Spring Bass Fishing

The Lipless is one of the best baits for Spring bass fishing! The key is learning how to use them to specifically target big bass instead of just chucking and winding for whatever might bite. Matt shares some key tips along with showing you some of his favorite baits and how to work them in this quick video. 

Lipless crank baits are incredibly versatile. They can be burned through the water column, slow rolled and "ticked" through vegetation and cover, or hopped and dragged along the bottom like a jig. All of these presentations are effective during different Spring conditions, though some are more effective than others on different lakes. For anglers that travel lake to lake or anglers that want to be well rounded on their home lake, its important to own baits for each different "style" of lipless crankbait fishing.
