Late Winter Transition Fishing! (Targeting Bass When Conditions Change)

Come along for a fun evening on the water! Tim is targeting largemouth during a Winter warming trend. A warm storm blew through the area yesterday, causing the creeks to flow warm, muddy water into the lake. Temperatures are rising but the bass are still lethargic.

This transitional time can be really difficult but Tim turned to downsized baits to catch them consistently. We often rely on a blade bait but this time he went even smaller than normal to get fish to react. Late Winter is a balancing act between air temperatures, water temperatures, and fish behavior. It's easy to speed up your retrieves in anticipation of Spring, but we aren't quite there yet.

Fishing Metal Baits For Cold Water Bass! (All The Tricks)

There's more than one way to fish these lures, you might be surprised! If you're not using these lures right now, you're blowing it! Blade baits, Tail Spins, and Spoons are all amazing cold water presentations. Long after bass stop eating other presentations (or move too deep for them to be effective) Metal baits keep getting bit.

The blade bait is by far the most popular lure in this category. Northern anglers in particular are very familiar with its effectiveness. Fall Transition Bass Fishing On Lake Chickamauga

Come along for a day on the water! Tim is on Lake Chickamauga for the first time in a few weeks and the Fall transition is in full swing! Cooler nights have brought falling water temperatures. Add the lake level dropping in anticipation of Fall/Winter and the bass are really on the move!

Tim's plan is to target active fish and he's hoping to find frog fish as main lake grass begins to be exposed by the dropping water levels. It doesn't take long for him to start catching fish! Come along for a fun day on the water as he puts the pieces together and starts catching fish.
