Cold Water Bass Fishing Tricks! 19 Degrees and We're Still Power Fishing!!

Come along for a wild day on the water!! Its 19 degrees but the fish are biting! Matt is using a high speed reel in freezing cold temperatures to trigger a feed response in Bass when nothing else is working! This trick works and you can do it too!!

We talk a lot about the power of speed cranking in cold water. Today you get to see it first hand! Matt manages to catch a couple jig fish along the way but for the most part can't get bit on anything. When he picks up the crankbait on an 8:1 reel and starts burning it, the fish start reacting!

Where Do Bass Hide In Winter? (And The Tricks We Use To Catch Them)

Bass are making their final transition, are you ready?? The shallow fish are vanishing and surface activity is coming to an end. Where has everything gone? The lake seem so dead but guys are still catching giant bass! Don't get left out, here's what you need to know... 

The Winter transition brings completely different bass behavior. Fish will move toward deep water access where there are ample food sources. You'll find them on the ends of deep points, on the edges of steep slopes near narrow "pinch points", and in featureless lakes, sitting out in the "hollows". The fish use these areas because they can move up and down the water column quickly with changing weather and there is typically an abundance of baitfish in these key locations as well. 

There are a variety of ways to catch these fish. You can catch them with traditional methods like jigs, small swimbaits, or a dropshot. But you can also go against the grain and catch them with big baits, or a variety of reaction baits. Below you'll find links to the exact baits that we rely on this time of year. to catch our fish. How To Catch Bass During The Fall To Winter Transition (Cold Water Baits)

Catching fish can be tricky this time of year! Some anglers are catching big fish every trip out while others are catching nothing at all. The difference is a combination of the baits they're using and their ability to trigger a feed response. 

If you're throwing the same old baits, you're probably going to struggle during this transition. Its time to get out of your comfort zone! Focus your attention on aggressive baits like speed cranking, jerkbaits, A-rigs, and blade baits to get consistent bites. If you insist on slow fishing, focus on key baits like jigs and ned rigs to get bit. This time of year can be amazing, you just have to branch out to experience it.
