It works from September to March, even in the coldest water temperatures. October is a great month in bass fishing! Fall bass fishing is in full swing and bass are feeding on shad and small baitfish. If you're not taking advantage of the Fall fishing you'll be singing the blues when Winter rolls around so get out there and catch those fish! Today we're covering the top 5 baits (its more like 15) to help you catch fish in October. 

If you're fishing in October and don't have a topwater tied on, you've already screwed up. Rule #1... Don't leave home without a walking topwater bait! There are some other great ways to catch fish as well but nothing is as exciting as topwater strike! Of course there are times they don't want to eat it and that's where these other lures come into play. Some fish will move shallow, others will move deep, but we've got baits that will help you target these fish no matter where they hide.
