$100K!!! STUCK in the MUD with NO RECEPTION!!

Matt's in TROUBLE! Tim and Tonya were enjoying an awesome day on the water when the phone rang... "HELP!!" Somehow Matt and Coop (an hour and a half away, deep in the woods) managed to get themselves STUCK!! They aren't just stuck, the boat is still on the trailer, the trailer sunk over the axles, and the back half of the truck is in the lake!

It was a quick end to an awesome morning on the water. The fish were absolutely choking the ned rig and keitech (exact baits linked below) when the call came in. Have you ever taken a call you wish you hadn't answered? (Ha!) Of course we're not going to leave friends in trouble so we stopped fishing, loaded the boat and started the search. It took several hours to reach them (they failed to mention how far out in the woods they really were) but we finally got there!

With Coop giving the Yamaha SHO 250 full throttle, and Matt and Tim both standing on the gas with trucks in 4 wheel drive, the 3 were able to get the rigs back out of the water. Success! When you're exploring the road less traveled things like this can happen. Sure, we could go to a paved boat ramp in the middle of town like everyone else, but then we'd catch the same fish as everyone else. Life is short, get out there and explore... but make sure you have the equipment to keep you safe and friends that are willing to help when you get in over your head.

Below you'll find links to the exact equipment Tim and Tonya were fishing with before the call came in. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Tim Flips His Kayak In COLD Water!! Spring Bass Fishing FAIL!

Tim paddled out into Clearlake in search of big bass. He got more than he bargained for! He started out catching a few fish on a post-front afternoon with a light chop but it changed in a second when a boat wake caught him from behind. Thankfully he was wearing his life jacket but his gear wasn't so lucky!

Despite the cold swim, the video starts with some Spring fishing tips as Tim works his way along the bank. He switches between a lipless crankbait, a worm, and a small underspin swimbait in search of bass on what proves to be a very tough afternoon. Not knowing what was to come he catches a nice bass, followed by a crappie. The most important bit of information you can glean from this video is to always wear your life jacket!!

We've been guilty of taking our life jackets off from time to time, just like everyone else. This is a serious reminder of how quickly the situation can change! Tim never saw the wave coming and in a blink he was in the water. Temperatures were in the 50's and he was no where near shore when it happened. If not for a passing boater the situation could have been much more dangerous. In the end, Tim lost 4 rod and reel combos, a new IPhone, two GoPro 8's, and a lot of tackle. Oops!

Below are links to some of our more successful kayak outings, including Matt catching a 10 lber from the yak! We also included links to the baits Tim was throwing prior to flipping the kayak, and links to the exact inflatable life jackets that we wear on the boat because they're incredible comfortable and low profile.

FAIL - 10 Pound Bass Comes Off At The Boat!!

Matt hooked a truly giant bass! The giant fish tail walked up and down the side of the boat giving huge head shakes as she went. Everything looked like it was going perfectly until disaster struck! No matter how much preparation you do, sometimes the big bass get away. Let's check it out...

This fish ate a heavy flipping jig rigged with a big senko as a trailer. Its not a traditional rig but its incredibly effective! Sometimes the key to getting big bites is just showing the bass something they haven't seen before. Think outside the box this Spring and you might get your own shot at a fish of a lifetime like this.

Whether you're fishing for monster bass with a 3/4 oz jig or downsizing to a little finesse jig, trying the senko as a trailer might be worth your time. Match a big jig with a 7" senko, smaller jig with a 5 or 6", etc. Below is a breakdown of the gear used in this video.

The rig...

Lost bass for Web.jpg

First We Got Cut Off, Then We Crashed The Boat!

From bad to worse! Tim and Matt had no idea what was coming when they launched the boat on the CA Delta! The day just kept going down hill. It started with lost fish, then they got cut off, next they lost a GIANT striped bass, rebounded by catching a huge bird, and then when it couldn't get any worse, they crashed!

Have you ever had one of "those" days? We just couldn't seem to do anything right! Luckily we survived to tell the tale! When it was all said and done, Matt was able to turn the day around by heading to another lake and catching a bunch of bass on soft jerkbaits.

Bad days happen to all of us. Don't let it get you down! Keep your chin up, stay focused, and continue to fish until you get out of the rut. The only difference between great anglers and the rest of us is persistence!

We did manage to catch a few fish along the way. Below is a break down of the gear we were using to successfully catch fish.
