Fall Swimbait Tricks - Which Swimbaits Catch More Fish?

Swimbait fishing is easy! As soon as you know the subtle tricks you'll start catching fish consistently. Have you tried swimbaits on your home lake without success? Are you the guy thats wondering if your lake even has a swimbait bite? We're here to tell you that EVERY lake has a swimbait bite, it doesn't matter where you fish or how small the "average" fish in the lake tends to be, bass love eating other fish. The issue isn't the bass, the issue is a combination of (lack of) confidence and the wrong (swimbait) tool for the job. Today, Tim is sharing all his confidence baits. He's covering everything from giant glidebaits all the way down to finesse paddle tails. Tim's goal is to explain how to consistently catch bass using a variety of swimbaits throughout the Fall.

Swimbait fishing is all about details. Knowing which baitfish your bass are targeting, what times they prefer to feed, and where their ambush points are, may seem overwhelming at first but don't be intimidated. You'll be amazed that when you start paying attention to the subtle nuances these questions and more will answer themselves during the course of your fishing. As your knowledge increases, you naturally gain confidence and your success will sky rocket.

Preparation is also key when swimbait fishing. Understanding the fish is half the battle but preparing your equipment is equally important. Many anglers go through the time and expense to hook a giant swimbait fish but fail to land it because their gear isn't up to the task. Large swimbaits require more specialized equipment than any other lure in bass fishing.

Below is a breakdown of Tim's favorite baits by style. We've also included a full breakdown of the rods, reels, and equipment he trusts to land those giant bass once they strike.

Swim Jigs: Everything You Need To Know For Summer Bass Fishing

Swim jigs made easy! Matt gives quick tricks that you can use to take your swim jig fishing for bass to the next level! If you're a spinnerbait or chatterbait guy, the swim jig is the next step. When combined with the proper trailer the baits come to life with amazing movement and flash that bass can't resist. Don't get caught shaking your swim jig this Summer, learn the proper technique and catch more bass!

In recent years, most swim jig fishermen have begun to use a keitech as their trailer. While this can be effective (and we often do it) its not the ideal swimbait trailer for a swim jig. Switching over to baits like the Rage Swimmer or D Walker will complete change the way the bait moves. A properly balanced swim jig with the right trailer will have head bob/roll, body rock, and skirt movement/flash without you imparting any outside action to the bait.

Summer time is the perfect time to learn the swim jig. This time of year you can get a lot of bites on the baits but you can also catch GIANT fish! Again, the key is selecting the right trailer. Below is a breakdown of the jigs, jig trailers, and equipment we use for swim jig fishing.

Early Summer Fishing- Catch A Giant Bass Right Now!

You only have a few days! There is a short window during the full moon in June that you can specifically target MONSTER bass with swimbaits. Once this window closes you're in to Summer patterns and typically have to wait until Fall for your next shot with the giant baits. Don't miss your chance, get the info and head to the lake now!

You only have a few days before the full moon arrives. Its time to head to the lake! Our primary bait for this window is a wake bait. If the fish won't come all the way to the surface with switch our attention to a glide bait. If the glide doesn't seem to fool them, we head a little deeper with paddle tail swimbaits. All 3 options have a shot at putting a truly GIANT bass in the boat for you this weekend.

Below is a breakdown of the lures and equipment we use for this big bait approach to Summer bass fishing. Remember, its a short window so get out there and catch them while you can!

Giant Texas Bass! Fishing Lake Alan Henry

Our first day in TEXAS and the GIANT Largemouth have already come out of the wood work! The day started like any other as we searched for fish on a brand new fishery. We knew we only had a few hours so we went from broke with swimbaits and topwater. After making some quick adaptions we found a point that was loaded with monster bass. Come along to see how it played out!

When we approach a new fishery the first step is to set goals. Are you looking to catch as many fish as possible? Do you want to catch a big fish? Are you looking for more than one species? Once you've set goals the day will define itself. In this case we only had a few hours so we knew we were looking for a big bite to kick off our Texas road trip. CC started with a glide bait hoping to call a big fish up out of deep water and Matt began probing the shallows with a topwater. When the bass proved to be small they started making quick moves to other parts of the lake but continued probing outside structures hoping the big, post spawn females would be stacking up, and that's exactly what they found.

The baits and tackle used in the video are broken down below.
