Flipping and Punching | Everything You Need To Know!

No more secrets! If you want to catch bass in heavy cover, this video is for you! Did you know you can punch with a dropshot? In today's in-depth video the guys cover this trick and so much more as they give away all the secrets to consistently catching bass with a flipping stick.

When Summer largemouth bass head deep into heavy cover it requires very heavy tackle to get them back out. Punching, flipping, and pitching are the three techniques used to reach these bass lurking in the shadows. If you're the first angler in your area to pick up a flippin stick you will be amazed by how many bass are deep in the cover. Matt and Tim put their heads together in this nearly 40-minute seminar and teach everything from creature bait selection to color preferences, right down to which speed reel will make your life easier for a long day of flipping.

Traditionally these bass are reached using a heavy Texas-Rigged creature bait on 65 lb braid. This method is deadly and has been responsible for producing an incredible number of big bass. However, as fish become conditioned there are times that a heavy jig and even a heavy dropshot will far outshine the Texas Rig. Knowing this little nuances makes all the difference and Matt and Tim aren't afraid to show you exactly how and when to make the adjustments.

Below is a breakdown of all the gear discussed in today's video. It is broken down by style to make it easier to follow along.

A Day On The Water With TacticalBassin : Late Fall Bass Fishing

The Buyer's Guides are coming! The Holiday Season has arrived and with it, the need to understand what gear is worth purchasing and what should be avoided. With all the craziness ahead Tim and Matt took a break and just went fishing. A warm November afternoon is a rare sight and they took full advantage!

The guys started off with a plan. They brought a few key baits and expected to hit a couple quick spots that had been holding good groups of fish. As often happens, the fish had vanished and the boys had to adapt. With only a handful of rods in the boat they made key adjustments in lures, locations, and depths, and finally caught some really nice fish.

The key to this day was adaptation. The plan was to take a lipless crankbait and a jerkbait, targeting fish in less than 3' of water. The guys ended up adding an underspin, and a worm, in water ranging from 3 to 25 feet deep to find the success they were after.

The baits...

4 Crankbaits That Keep Catching Bass In Fall and Winter

Fall is prime time for the crankbait! Even if your water is in the 40's you can catch bass with these tips. As water temperatures drop we keep it very simple. Instead of throwing a dozen different baits focus on key baits in key colors and you'll see way more success.

Even as the water cools we fish all ends of the spectrum. We'll use a squarebill crankbait, deep diving crankbait, and a lipless crankbait for different presentations. Despite the variety, we keep the actual baits and colors very simple.

The first bait is the LV-500 lipless crankbait. The second bait is the Lucky Craft 1.5 Squarebill. Third is the River2Sea Biggie and last is the Strike King 6XD. By using these baits as a system you can cover virtually any situation without owning an entire tackle box of crankbaits. Simplify colors as well, focusing on a ghost color, a Flashy Color, and a solid or white color for your best chance at success.
