Swim Jigs: Everything You Need To Know For Summer Bass Fishing

Swim jigs made easy! Matt gives quick tricks that you can use to take your swim jig fishing for bass to the next level! If you're a spinnerbait or chatterbait guy, the swim jig is the next step. When combined with the proper trailer the baits come to life with amazing movement and flash that bass can't resist. Don't get caught shaking your swim jig this Summer, learn the proper technique and catch more bass!

In recent years, most swim jig fishermen have begun to use a keitech as their trailer. While this can be effective (and we often do it) its not the ideal swimbait trailer for a swim jig. Switching over to baits like the Rage Swimmer or D Walker will complete change the way the bait moves. A properly balanced swim jig with the right trailer will have head bob/roll, body rock, and skirt movement/flash without you imparting any outside action to the bait.

Summer time is the perfect time to learn the swim jig. This time of year you can get a lot of bites on the baits but you can also catch GIANT fish! Again, the key is selecting the right trailer. Below is a breakdown of the jigs, jig trailers, and equipment we use for swim jig fishing.

Early Summer Fishing- Catch A Giant Bass Right Now!

You only have a few days! There is a short window during the full moon in June that you can specifically target MONSTER bass with swimbaits. Once this window closes you're in to Summer patterns and typically have to wait until Fall for your next shot with the giant baits. Don't miss your chance, get the info and head to the lake now!

You only have a few days before the full moon arrives. Its time to head to the lake! Our primary bait for this window is a wake bait. If the fish won't come all the way to the surface with switch our attention to a glide bait. If the glide doesn't seem to fool them, we head a little deeper with paddle tail swimbaits. All 3 options have a shot at putting a truly GIANT bass in the boat for you this weekend.

Below is a breakdown of the lures and equipment we use for this big bait approach to Summer bass fishing. Remember, its a short window so get out there and catch them while you can!

Summer Bass Fishing Buyer's Guide

There are a ton of new baits from Ned Worms to Swimbaits on the market this Summer and today we're going to review some of the best. Its easy to get overwhelmed by all the new tackle but Tim makes it easy by sharing some of his confidence baits as well as a few recent finds. If you're looking for something to try as we head in to Early Summer, give these baits a look.

Today's video samples baits from both ends of the spectrum. Tim has a lot of confidence in a new Ned Worm from Missile Baits, as well as a couple finesse hooks. But he's also developed a ton of confidence in a few swimbaits for Summer bass fishing. If you're heading shallow the Noisy Dachs by Evergreen was out of stock for nearly a year and is finally back on the market! If you're probing deep, the new colors of Baitsanity are a killer option (That Kokanee is hard to beat!)

How to Catch Shallow Bass In Early Summer

Its time to head shallow for some Summer bass fishing fun! Frogging, wakebaits, flipping, and a whole lot more... its the fishing we dream about all Winter long! If you're not going shallow with heavy tackle this Summer you're missing the boat on a lot of really fun fishing! Today Tim is breaking down all the baits he uses to consistently target bass in Early Summer.

Everyone loves catching bass on topwater but this is the time of year you can upsize to a big wake bait and catch a GIANT post spawn bass. If the topwater bite isn't happening you can head deep into heavy cover with a heavy punching rig and pull the big fish out of the shallows. If that's not working, there are some awesome reaction options like swim jigs and crankbaits that consistently fool Summer bass.

Don't miss your chance this Summer! Whether you're bank fishing a pond, paddling a kayak, or ripping around in a brand new bass boat, the Summer months have some amazing fishing opportunities. Head into the shallows and explore everything your lake has to offer! Below is a breakdown of the tackle discussed in the video.
