When the jerkbait bite is on, IT IS ON! Matt Allen and Tim Little discuss how and when to throw jerkbaits to locate aggressive summer bass.
Matt reviews two new jerkbaits that really stood out from the crowd this Winter. The Jackall Dowzvido and the Megabass Kanata are both great ripbaits to add to your arsenal for the Spring and Prespawn.
The Jackall Dowzvido stook out because of the great color patterns, excellent side to side rolling action, and amazing castability. If you're looking for a compact jerkbait to dive deeper and fool those finicky fish, this is the one for you!
The Megabass Kanata is an oversized jerkbait but it fishes much smaller than it really is. If you're looking to upsize your catch, this is an awesome option! With a ton of flash and roll to attract fish, this bait is sure to be a winner!
Jerkbaits are an awesome way to catch big fish during the cold water months. As bass move into the shallows in Spring the jerkbait becomes even more effective! These two baits will be a great addition to any bass fisherman's arsenal.

Jerkbait fishing can be deadly effective once you understand the cadence. Check out this video if you'd like to learn how to fish a jerkbait: https://youtu.be/53KaZSeIdFM
High water and cold weather won't stop these bass from crushing the jerkbait! With water temps at 43 degrees most anglers don't believe bass will feed aggressively but when bass school together they're susceptible to triggered feeding in even the coldest of water.
Tim and Matt explain the cadence and technique to fool cold water fish into eating a jerkbait. They used two baits to catch their fish and constantly rotated colors to keep the school biting for as long as possible. They aren't the biggest fish but they prove the effectiveness of the method.

Winter Jerkbait fishing (also known as Winter Ripbait fishing if you live out West) can be amazing! Jerkbaits are one of the only reaction baits that work in virtually any water temperature.
Ever wondered what it looks like when bass eat your lure? How about when a wolf pack begins fighting over your bait? Let's go underwater and find out!
In this video we're using this jerkbait to trigger a huge wolfpack of schooling bass into a feeding frenzy! This is some of the most insane underwater bass footage ever captured with a GoPro! These fish get so aggressive that at times they bite over and over again. We had one bass that was nearly 7 pounds eat the jerkbait 4 different times before getting hooked!
This isn't filmed in some private pond either, these are real bass filmed from a boat during the most insane bite ever! We were very lucky to have the equipment to go underwater and film these bass eating the jerkbait over and over.
What were the bass eating? Here is the equipment used...
Lucky Craft Pointer 100 Jerkbait
Owner Hyperwire Split rings
Owner 3X Trebles
Abrazx 12 lb
-GoPro Hero4
Bass are very predatory and when they begin to school up the jerkbait is a great lure to catch them. The key is the combination of sound and sharp movement. This triggers the bass' predatory nature and they lash out violently, even when they aren't hungry.
Be sure and try a jerkbait on your next fishing trip! They're great for largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass and work throughout the year.
