Winter Jig Fishing Tips And Tricks!

Snow and ice won't stop us from catching fish! Come along as the guys hit the water on Dale Hollow in search of a Winter jig bite. They use a two-pronged approach throwing both a traditional football jig, and a Hula Grub in the cold January waters and it doesn't take long before big bass start coming into the boat!

Winter is a great time to throw a jig. The larger crawfish profile dragged slowly along bottom is often more than a lethargic Winter bass can resist. Similar to a swimbait, the jig creates a slow moving, oversized meal that requires little energy to eat and tends to catch bigger than average fish. Notice that Tim's first several fish were big bass, despite the brutal cold conditions. When the water temperatures plunge and the fish don't seem to want to feed, switching from a traditional football jig to a "Hula Grub" style jig will often get more bites as well.

NED RIG AND TUBE FISHING TRICKS FOR WINTER BASS!

These tricks will help you catch more fish! Ned Rigs and Tubes are both great baits for cold water fishing. Winter bass respond to those small profiles worked extremely slowly, even in the toughest conditions. But not all baits are created equal and how you work them is as important as which bait you choose to throw. 

Today Matt is giving some key tips on how he finesse fishes in cold water. He begins with some of his favorite ned baits and how he applies each to his fishing, then wraps it up with some tube fishing tips you don't want to miss. Matt loves to power fish but when conditions call for finesse he doesn't hesitate to pick up the light rods and get to work.

Where Are We Fishing In 2022???

Are we coming to a lake near you? 2022 is going to be an awesome year! We can't wait to start catching fish and we can't wait to start hearing about all your successes both on and off the water. We're excited about what the future holds and thankful that you're coming on the journey with us!

Winter bass fishing is in full swing! If you want to catch these fish in January, you need to adapt. These are the top 5 baits we rely on to consistently catch bass during the coldest part of the year. To the surprise of many, its not all about finesse! In most of the country January is the coldest month of the year. Fish are lethargic and often laying right on bottom.
